No. There is no login and no sign-up.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the voice is installed on your iPhone.
Where do the voices come from?
From iOS itself. The app uses the voices installed on your device, and Settings shows you the exact route to download more: Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices > your language.
Can it read a PDF?
Yes, and DOCX, EPUB, TXT, web pages and a photo of printed text through the camera.
Does it keep playing with the screen locked?
Yes, with Control Center and lock screen controls, and it works with AirPods and CarPlay.

What's new in 3.6.0

Picking a voice used to stick only until you left the screen. The app was re-choosing it every time the picker appeared, so you came back to the one voice iOS installs by default. Your choice now stays. The App Store page also carried a duplicate set of terms and privacy links pointing at a personal file host. Gone.
